Distinguished Service in the Singapore Police Force

Mr. Shareef’s roots in security and public safety run deep, anchored in a remarkable national service tenure as a key appointment holder with the Singapore Police Force:

• NS Commander, Central Police Division — Led a force of 2,800 Police National Servicemen, demonstrating exceptional leadership and organisational capability.
• Key operational roles spearheading major police operations, including security for the World Trade Organisation Conference, operational command during IOC conferences and World Bank meetings, and large-scale deployments for major cultural events including Thaipusam and Firewalking.

His strategic insights and operational expertise were instrumental in managing mass deployments and safeguarding key installations across Singapore.

Recognition and Honours

• Pingat Bakti Setia (Polis) — Awarded by the President of Singapore in the 2008 National Day Awards for dedicated service to the Singapore Police Force.
• Commissioner of Police Commendations — Received in 2004, 2006, and 2009 for exceptional performance as Commander, Central Police Division.
• Police National Service Commendations — Awarded in 1995, 1998, and 2000 for outstanding service.

Under his command, the Central Police Division consistently achieved top honours, including multiple Best Land Division Awards.
